An elegant, ornately shaped mirror with molded sides, typical of the Rococo style. The carved and gilded wooden frame features rich and exquisitely detailed ornamentation, revealing the craftsmanship of the workshops of the period. The pediment is crowned with three stylized, delicately carved flowers, surmounted by a central shell in relief, an emblematic decorative symbol of the Rococo style. This shell is framed by sinuous scrolls and veined acanthus leaves, which unfurl gracefully along the edge, lending the whole a dynamic, asymmetrical, and vegetal quality characteristic of the Louis XV style. The moldings framing the central mirror accentuate the lightness and sophistication of the piece, while highlighting the original patinated gilding, subtly enhanced by the interplay of light and shadow. This mirror embodies French decorative elegance, at the crossroads of aristocratic refinement and late Baroque exuberance. This mirror is an ideal collector's item for lovers of antique furniture, traditional gilding, and rocaille ornamentation.********Period: Mid-19th century. Some minor wear to the silvering and pitting are present, but do not detract from the charm of this antique piece. (See photos.) Shipping available in France and internationally. Dimensions: Height: 90 cm Width: 53 cm Depth: 5 cm Reference: 423V https://www.antiquites-lecomte.com/boutique/miroirs/miroir-a-parcloses-en-bois-dore-epoque-louis-xv-1re-moitie-xviiie/
