The trays are inlaid with precious woods decorated with floral motifs, including rosewood, lemonwood or sycamore, thuya, boxwood, and ebony, demonstrating the meticulous craftsmanship characteristic of the Second Empire. The upper tray holds in its center a painted plate depicting a maritime voyage scene: a ship flying French colors, an anchor dropped in the foreground, a mountain range in the background, Neapolitan fishermen, and recently disembarked travelers. The painting is in good condition, without cracks or chips; Only slight scratches from use are visible, barely noticeable and without detracting from the overall impression.
