Born in Trieste in 1907, a city then part of Austria-Hungary. At the end of the First World War, to earn a living he became a blacksmith and then a tailor, while also attending classes at the School of Fine Arts in Trieste.
In 1930, he fled Mussolini's Italy and sought refuge in Paris. Initially working as a tailor in fashion houses, he continued to study painting, and in 1935 he received his first prize in the competition commemorating the tricentennial of the annexation of the French West Indies.
A witness to his time, he traveled throughout Europe, South America, and China, capturing moments of daily life in his characteristic post-Cubist style. He exhibited in France, New York, and Canada. Many museums hold some of his works. Dimensions with frame: 111cm x 92cm.
