Biographies Theodore Louis BOULARD 1887 1961 Théodore Louis Boulard, born in Le Mans on July 19, 1887 and died in Kremlin-Bicêtre on October 21, 1961[1], was a French painter and musician. A student of Jules Hervé-Mathé at the École des Beaux-Arts in Le Mans, he became a professor there and later taught in Lesneven (1912-1914), Fougères (1914-1919), Aix-en-Provence (1920), at the Lycée Georges-Clemenceau (Nantes) (1921-1930), and then in Paris at the Lycée Janson-de-Sailly and the Lycée Henri-IV, where he was in charge of drawing classes for students preparing for the entrance exams to the grandes écoles. He also taught at the Académie Julian. A member of the Société des Artistes Français, he is known for his scenes of everyday life.[2] As a musician, he won first prize in violin and solfège at the Le Mans Conservatory of Music in 1899 and, as a violin soloist, conducted several orchestras. A mathematician with a passion for geometry, he also authored the book Twenty Lessons in Perspective in 1951. He is buried in Saint-Marceau (Sarthe) - Théodore Boulard (1887-1961), drawing teacher from 1921 to 1931. Born on July 19, 1887, in Le Mans (Sarthe). After working as a primary school teacher in the Sarthe region from 1907 to 1913, he taught drawing from 1913 to 1920 in the secondary schools of Lesneven and Fougères, and then for a year at the high school in Aix-en-Provence. Appointed to Nantes in October 1921, he inspired many of his students to pursue artistic careers. Thanks to him, the high school achieved outstanding results in the national drawing competition each year. Several of his students became renowned artists: Jean Chabot, Jacques-Charles Derrey, Paul Durivault, René Eschapasse, and his own son, Jean Boulard. Théodore Boulard, a painter and also a musician, authored several works on perspective. In July 1931 he was appointed to the Lycée Charlemagne in Paris. Théodore Boulard is therefore the grandfather of Jean-Claude Boulard, a politician from Sarthe who died on June 1, 2018 (see Heloïse / News / 2018-06-02).
