Screw-on Wax Iron Case, Louis XIV Period, Two Coats Of Arms;
A simple, cylindrical wax stick case, opening two-thirds of the way with a screw thread.
Each end is engraved with a seal:
*in a circle: a goat's head beneath a count's coronet, surrounded by palm fronds;
*in an octagon: a superb mavelot (intertwined initials beneath a count's coronet, surrounded by scrolling foliage).
An indestructible wrought iron object, work of a workshop in Nuremberg or Augsburg, which specialized in this type of craftsmanship, for export to France where it was engraved, dating from reign of Louis XIV, circa 1700.
