A very beautiful triptych icon from the early 19th century, tempera on panel.
In the center, Theodokos (the Mother of God) with the infant Jesus in her arms; on the left, Saint George piercing the dragon, a symbol of the defeat of evil; on the right, Demetrius on a red horse, vanquishing the Bulgarian king Kalojan.
It measures 35 cm wide when open and 18 cm when closed, by 24 cm high.
There are a few small old chips and a crack on the central panel.
