Attributed to Jacques Hitier, this wood and metal desk features a lighting system on the top, perhaps in the style of a workshop or display piece. The top and cabinet are oak veneered, with a beechwood frame. The legs are black-painted metal. Dimensions: height 73 cm; width 80 cm; depth 50 cm. Jacques Hitier was a French decorator and furniture designer born on March 28, 1917, in Paris and died on March 6, 1999, in La Frette-sur-Seine. He is described by Patrick Favardin as "one of the most endearing figures of the decorative arts scene in the second half of the 20th century." A decorative artist associated with the École Boulle, he specialized after World War II in creating industrial furniture for small businesses and homes, which he exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs and the Salon des Arts Ménagers.
