Louis XVI Bouillotte Table, In Precious Wood, Reversible And Transformable
This bouillotte table is distinguished by its reversible and transformable top, revealing two game boards: a decorative board with an architectural and landscape motif, and a checkerboard board, ideal for board games. The main board is covered in its center with the original tan leather, encircled by a metal ring to hold all kinds of playing cards, tokens, etc. This table also has three different boards. It rests on four tapered legs whose sabots are adorned with bronze, typical of the Louis XVI style. It is equipped with two drawers in the frieze as well as two pull-out slides. The meticulous geometric marquetry, the delicately chiseled bronzes, and the harmonious proportions testify to highly skilled cabinetmaking, typical of late 18th-century French production. Louis XVI period, circa 1780. Note: minor wear consistent with age on the main board caused by the rotating stopper. See photo.
