Two-door Boulle Marquetry Sideboard Stamped Vedder, Napoleon III Period (napoleon III)
DESCRIPTION: A beautiful Napoleon III period Boulle marquetry sideboard with brass stringing. Exquisite gilt bronze ornamentation with two masks flanked by scrolled corner brackets on the doors, multiple moldings, foliate drops at the top, and lower drops. The sides are decorated with corner pieces surrounding a large trophy motif. The doors are framed by large Louis XIV-style corner brackets. It is stamped in two places with the mark of the renowned VEDDER firm in Paris. (VEDDER - a famous furniture maker specializing in small dressing tables and Boulle furniture. Established at 87 Boulevard Beaumarchais in 1852, they won two silver medals at the Universal Exhibitions of 1867 at the Grand Palais and in London in 1862). Mahogany interior with two shelves.
