"The Eucharist of the Apostles," oil on canvas attributed to Jacques Stella (Lyon 1596 - Paris 1657) and workshop. A delicate composition imbued with Attic style, characteristic of the works produced by this artist, painter to King Louis XIII and Richelieu, in the first half of the 17th century. Christ distributes the Eucharist to his apostles gathered around him in the Upper Room. The colorful figures, surrounded by a multitude of angels and precious objects, enliven this classical architectural setting. In very good condition. Antique (17th/18th century) giltwood frame.
