Born in 1965 in Paris, Patrice Landauer studied at the École Supérieure des Arts Appliqués (School of Book Arts - Graphic Arts section), the École Met de Penninghen (formerly the Académie Julian), and the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris (Painting section, Albert Zavaro studio). In the grand tradition of traveling painters, Patrice Landauer has developed a highly personal body of work, running counter to all the usual trends in contemporary art. He travels through space, bringing back from his stays in Africa visionary paintings where light dances and shimmers to highlight people and places. He treats animals and humans with great skill, particularly in his depictions of the world of horse racing. But he also travels through time, drawing powerful inspiration from his historical knowledge of imagery. His works are populated with biplanes from the pioneering days of aviation, locomotives reminiscent of Gabin's character in *La Bête Humaine*, and Parisian scenes from the Belle Époque. Patrice Landauer exhibits regularly in France and Belgium.
