Meiji Period Bronze Okimono (1868-1912)
Artist: ???
A beautiful patinated and gilded bronze okimono depicting a peasant standing near a tree stump, a bucket at his feet, carrying a barrel on his back and holding a dog mask in his right hand, Japan, circa 1880. The workmanship is excellent; we were unable to find a signature. Note: wear to the patina and a small bronze ring holding the barrel has been replaced with a wire. Despite these minor imperfections, the bronze is in very good condition.
