Pair Of Louis XV Style Armchairs – 19th Century
Description: A delightful pair of 19th-century "à la reine" (flat-backed) armchairs in the Louis XV style, crafted from carved and gilded wood. These chairs feature a wide, "mouvementé" (contoured) backrest, surmounted by a finely carved decoration of flowers and foliage. The generous, curved seat rail mirrors this floral motif at its center. They rest on four cabriole legs ending in scrolled feet, typical of the Rocaille aesthetic.
Condition and Upholstery: The wooden structure is sound and stable. The gilding displays an authentic patina of age that highlights the sculptural reliefs, offering a very elegant contrast between the classicism of the gilded frame and the modernity of the pattern. Finished with a border of bronze upholstery tacks. With their generous proportions (70 cm wide), these armchairs offer excellent seating comfort and will serve as a centerpiece in a classical salon or a more eclectic interior.
