Louis Giraud Very Large Art Deco Ceramic Vase

Very large ovoid earthenware vase from the 1930s by Louis Giraud (1897-1985) with Ripolin painted decoration. Stylized decoration of leaves and flowers, geometric motifs in gold, ochre, blue, and black, with black highlights. Signed "Vallauris" on the underside and "Giraud" on one side. Dimensions: Height: 40 cm. Diameter at the neck/base: 11/14 cm. Diameter: 25 cm. Very good condition, with some minor imperfections due to age, visible in the photos. Born in 1897, Louis Giraud was a painter and ceramicist in Vallauris, where he ran an art pottery workshop. He collaborated with artists such as Pyot Thiry, René Maurel, and Alexandre Kostanda. When he died in 1985, he left behind a rich and varied body of work.
