This elegant carved and patinated wooden center table, from the South of France, dates from the second half of the 18th century and is attributable to Pillot, a renowned cabinetmaker and sculptor active in Nîmes.
The richly carved apron features a decoration of foliate scrolls and quatrefoil dice, centered by a stylized shell, an emblematic motif of the southern decorative repertoire of this period.
The corners are highlighted with carved florets, lending balance and refinement to the whole. It rests on four tapered and fluted legs, terminating in carved rings, attesting to meticulous craftsmanship and true workshop expertise.
The white, veined gray marble top, with its light and elegant nuances, is perfectly suited to the table's proportions.
This decorative and functional center table fits perfectly into both classic and contemporary interiors, adding character and authenticity.
Wear and patina are consistent with age and use; minor restoration is recommended.
