Directoire-style Cherrywood Backgammon Desk, Late 18th Century
A late 18th-century cherrywood backgammon table, serving as both a desk and card table, in the Directoire style. Its removable top is covered in dark brown leather with antique gold vignettes on one side and a black felt playing surface on the other. It reveals a backgammon board veneered in ebony and bone. The table features a small drawer on each side of the apron and rests on tapered legs. Its clean and elegant lines allow this table to fit seamlessly into both classic and modern interiors, in the city or the countryside.
In good condition, with restoration consistent with age and use. The antique leather shows signs of wear as seen in the photos, and the felt has been replaced.
