The work bears the red "ED" stamp from the Delacroix posthumous sale of February 21, 1864.
It was likely part of lot 648 (studies of women's heads, watercolors and drawings, 54 sheets) or 653 (studies of men and women from photographs, ink and pencil drawings, 74 sheets) sold during this posthumous sale.
Pencil on paper laid down on blue paper, itself laid down on a sheet measuring 21.3 x 18.5 cm
The drawing itself measures 12 x 10 cm (currently unframed but will be delivered framed)
