"Pair Of Opaline Vases With A Constricting Ring, Restoration Period. "
A rare and elegant pair of white opaline vases, distinguished by their architectural form with a constricted ring. This slender, carefully proportioned silhouette lends the pair a strong decorative presence while maintaining perfect restraint. The particularly refined ornamentation harmoniously combines several stylistic registers characteristic of the Restoration period. The central section is highlighted by a frieze of gilded Greek key patterns, drawn from the Neoclassical repertoire, framed by wide royal blue bands highlighted with gold, creating an elegant contrast with the milky white of the opaline. The upper and lower sections are adorned with gilded friezes of Neo-Gothic inspiration, featuring stylized and rhythmic motifs, reflecting the learned taste of this period for a masterful reinterpretation of medieval styles. The entire decoration is executed with great finesse and perfect graphic coherence. The opaline glass, a uniform white with a slight translucency, is of very high quality. Beneath the bases, handwritten numbers painted in gold can be seen, corresponding to old workshop markings, probably used for pairing or tracking production. Dimensions: Height: 35 cm; Base diameter: 16.5 cm; Neck diameter: 9.5 cm. Condition: Very good overall condition. No chips or cracks. Minor, localized wear to the gilding, consistent with age and use, with no aesthetic impact.
