Oil On Canvas Depiction Of Christ, Surrealist Style, Early 20th Century, Palmettes

Here is a depiction of Christ imbued with surrealism. The other figure, on the left, is perhaps an apostle or a monk. The work is touching, almost a little naive. The frame is decorated with palmettes. It is unfortunately damaged, in a state of disrepair. The flaws include significant rubbing and wear, with some paint loss in the oil and slightly faded colors. Also noteworthy are some losses and rubbing on the frame, with damaged corners and an inscription on the back that needs to be identified. On the reverse of the canvas is the inscription: "54 rue ND des Champs Paris/PAUL FOINET/(VAN EYCK)/TOILES & COULEURS FINES". Sold untouched and unrestored.
