Félix Choisnard, Romantic View Of The Château De La Madeleine In Saint-rémy-les-chevreuse
Artist: Félix Jean Clément Choisnard (valence, 1846 – 1924)
Félix Jean Clément CHOISNARD (Valence, 1846–1924)
Romantic view of the Château de la Madeleine in Saint-Rémy-les-Chevreuse
Oil on canvas (1879)
Signed and dated lower right Félix Choisnard 1879, inscribed in chalk on the reverse Manente (?)
65 x 92 cm
Very important original Barbizon frame in wood and gilded stucco from the late 19th century
Dimensions with frame: 98 x 125 cm
Note: Félix Choisnard was a student and friend of the painter Emmauel Lansyer (Île de Bouin, 1835 – Paris, 1893), who often painted the Chevreuse Valley and met up with his painter friends Pelouse and Harpignies in Cernay. Félix Choisnard painted with Lansyer, and here he gives us a romanticized view (the rocky spur is more pronounced than in reality) of the Château de la Madeleine, whose silhouette can be recognized in a forest landscape at sunset.
