Revolutionary brass seal of the Rocroi Correctional Court, First Republic period.
This seal depicts a standing woman holding in one hand a pike surmounted by a Phrygian cap, or Liberty cap, and in the other arm, a fasces with an axe.
It bears the inscription: TRIBUNAL CORRECTIONNEL DE ROCROI. DEP DES ARDENN.
for Correctional Court of Rocroi. Ardennes Department.
France, First Republic period, after September 1792.
Slight wear on the wooden handle.

Note: Before the French Revolution, the town of Rocroi was spelled Rocroy.
