NB: Rugendas, Bavarian painter, traveled to Brazil between 1822 and 1825 as a draftsman for the scientific mission of Baron Georg Henrich von Langsdorff and traveled through the provinces of Minas Gerais, Bahia, Pernambuco and Rio de Janeiro.
He drew landscapes, fauna and flora, indigenous peoples, but also Black people, most often reduced to slavery.
