This charming scene with a young assistant was painted in 1873 by Hermann Pistor (1832 Neustrelitz – after 1866 Berlin), a listed German genre and portrait painter.
The artist studied at the Dresden Academy (1850–1851) and in Frankfurt am Main under Jak. Becker. He settled in Berlin in 1866. The Frankfurt am Main city collection includes another genre painting by this artist.
