Facsimile Of Sir John Franklin's Arctic Expedition

Facsimile of "The Illustrated Arctic News," March 15, 1852. A superb series of facsimiles and articles relating to Sir John Franklin's North Pole expedition. This series, bound in a blue leather facsimile, was published by Ackerman and Co. on March 15, 1852, in London. Several adventures are recounted in articles imbued with very British humor, all richly illustrated with black and white and color engravings. Provenance: formerly in the collection of Sir Edward Buxton Barton. A bookplate bearing the Barton coat of arms adorns the spine. A very rare and unusual facsimile relating to the Franklin expedition, the conquest of the poles, and the British Empire.
