A very fine bust from the Sèvres National Manufactory, in biscuit porcelain on a blue enameled pedestal, depicting Patrice de Mac Mahon, Duke of Magenta, former President of the French Republic. Manufactory marks "S95": 1895 for the porcelain paste and "doré à Sèvres 96": 1896 for the gilding. Edme-Patrice Maurice de Mac Mahon, Count of Mac Mahon, 1st Duke of Magenta, Marshal of France, born on June 13, 1808 at the Château de Sully and died on October 17, 1893 in Montcresson, was a French military officer, colonial administrator and statesman, President of the Republic from May 24, 1873 to January 30, 1879. Claude Edouard Forgeot, sculptor and modeler in Sèvres from 1856 to 1887. Dimensions (L/W/H): 30 x 16 x 37 cm. Height of the base: 9 cm. Diameter: 14 cm.
