Wooden Restoration Open Sofa Italy Second Quarter Of The 19th Century
Restoration-era open-back sofa in carved and gilded wood. The lower section features Neoclassical carvings, as do the turned legs. The backrest and side uprights culminate in a curl, elegantly adorned with embroidered fabric inserts featuring Neoclassical themes, framed by gilded moldings. The front inserts are severely discolored. The backrest, sides, and seat are padded; cushions are missing. Italy, second quarter of the 19th century.
