This short sword is an authentic made with an iron blade and a carved wooden handle
Its distinctive leaf-shaped blade with a central ridge and a wooden hilt features a large, round, pommel.
Although shaped like a weapon, the ikul was actually introduced in the 17th century by King Shyaam aMbul aNgoong as a "peace knife," replacing the more dangerous throwing knives and war swords of the era
It is a symbol of status, prestige, and authority, worn by every adult Kuba man on his right hip during ceremonies and as part of traditional attire

The wood has patina and the balade is oxidated. It dates back to the early 20th century
