Gigi Comolli Landscape With Trees Circa 1950 Oil painting on canvas within a guilloché frame in carved and ebonised wood with burl wood inserts. The flat landscape has a balanced composition with vegetation in the background, a pool of stagnant water in the foreground and a lady just behind it. It is in good condition and signed lower left.

Gigi Comolli (Milan, 1893 – Milan, 1976) trained at the Brera Academy and embarked on an artistic career which, after the First World War, led him to exhibit in various exhibitions at the Società Permanente and at several Venice Biennales, as well as in a number of Milanese galleries (Scopinich, Ranzini, Salvetti, Dedalo and Ars Italica). He was mainly a landscape painter, with a preference for the Lombardy countryside, but he also devoted himself to still life. His works can be found in Milan in the art collections of the Cariplo Foundation, in the Gallery of Modern Art and in the Quadreria dei benefattori dell'Ospedale Maggiore.
