Nabi.
Location: unknown.
Date: executed between 1920 and 1922.
Signature: affixed to the back of the work.
Robert Santerne was a pupil and disciple of Maurice Denis.
The proposed work is the most perfect illustration of this.
The last two paintings are works by Maurice Denis, for comparison.
Note some perforations (3) as well as 2 small old restorations. I attach a photo of the work presented in natural light, against the light, for a better reading of the pictorial layer and a better evaluation of the restoration work.
A restoration would have been entirely conceivable but not carried out, for the sake of preserving the work in its strict original state.
The Mont des Arts Gallery intervenes only very exceptionally on works requiring restoration and this, in order to ensure total transparency as to the piece proposed to its future customers always anxious to involve their usual restorers.
A video of the work can be sent, on request.
