Dragon Officer's Helmet, Model 1872, With Its Transport Box, Third Republic

Dragoon officer's helmet, model 1872 modified 1874, in excellent condition. The helmet's bowl, visor, and neck guard are made of nickel-plated metal with gilt brass trim. A band features a grenade on two bay leaf branches. The crest consists of stamped wings decreasing in size towards the rear. The crest mask is adorned with a Medusa head at the top. The leather interior features seven wolf's teeth bordered by a gilt-stamped outer edge. The chin straps are composed of ten laurel-leaf-shaped scales, decreasing in size towards the front. They are mounted on leather covered in black velvet. The period mane has a flat braided placket on top. Presented in its wooden transport case covered in black leather, the interior of which is lined with chamois leather. A period blue, white, and red rooster feather plume and its gilt olive are also included.
