Atelier Mêne
This model of an Arabian horse was exhibited at the Salon of 1843. The artist was presenting, for the first time, a significant composition on an equestrian theme. The horse depicted is identified and named in the Salon catalogue. It was an Egyptian stallion. Three sizes of this model exist. Our example is No. 1, the largest. As is often the case, the bronze bears the title inscribed on the base rim. This one has cut corners, a characteristic found in the oldest examples.
