Animal bronze by Emmanuel Fremiet, French artist. On the base you have a Kufic inscription. FREMIET had his own foundry. The sculpture is late 19th century and has no foundry. He is one of the great French realist sculptors. He is the nephew of the sculptor Rude. He will be a member of the Academy of Fine Arts. It is present at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.
