17th-Century Flemish Baroque Bronze Corpus of Christ – Jansenist Type – Height 24 cm
A finely modelled bronze Corpus Christi dating from the second half of the 17th century, originating from the Southern Netherlands (Flanders). The figure displays all the expressive qualities of the Flemish Baroque: a dramatic S-shaped posture, deeply emotional head tilt, and strongly extended arms characteristic of the Jansenist iconography of the period.
Beautifully cast with great anatomical sensitivity, the body shows naturalistic musculature and a deeply folded perizonium tied in a dynamic knot. The patina is original, with light wear on the prominent areas consistent with age. The nail holes in the hands and feet indicate its original function on a processional or devotional crucifix.
A refined devotional object of impressive presence, combining artistic elegance with strong spiritual impact.
Material: bronze
Origin: Flanders (Southern Netherlands)
Period: 17th century (ca. 1650–1700)

A rare and expressive Flemish Baroque bronze corpus for collectors of sacred art.
