Elegant rectangular sterling silver tray, finely decorated in repoussé with putti, scrolling foliage and floral motifs.
The shaped border enhances the softness of the lines, characteristic of late Victorian silverwork.
The tray bears English hallmarks attributable to William Comyns, one of the most renowned London silversmiths of the late 19th century, celebrated for his richly modelled repoussé surfaces.
On the side appears the engraved retailer’s mark “Hardy Bros Sydney”, the prestigious Australian jewellery house founded in 1853, which frequently commissioned pieces from leading British silversmiths.
Period: England, late 19th century (1896)
Material: Sterling silver (.925)
Dimensions: 23 × 10 cm
Weight: 130 g
A refined and collectible piece, ideal as a small serving tray or as an elegant decorative accent.
