"Pair Of Carved Wooden Angels From The 17th Century"
Pair of polychrome and gilded wall-mounted musical angels. Their dynamic, almost levitating posture is characteristic of the Baroque period; the gilded drapery and the twist of their bodies recall Baroque religious sculptures from Italy. They have chubby, childlike expressions characteristic of 17th-century putti. Patinated wrought iron base. Restoration to one horn. Left angel: height 36 cm without base, 44 cm with base. Right angel: height 37 cm without base, 54 cm with base.
