Art Deco Female Nude By Karel Van Belle
Artist: Karel Van Belle 1884-1959
Karel Van Belle was a student at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent, where he studied under Jean Delvin and Louis Tytgadt. In 1913, he was one of six candidates shortlisted for the Prix de Rome for painting. The prize was not awarded that year, but he received an honorable mention, shared with Willem Van Riet. Karel Van Belle submitted three canvases to the 1914 Brussels Salon: Venus, A Queen, and Holy Image. On October 5, 1959, Karel Van Belle died at the age of 75 in the hamlet of Béguinage in Ghent.
