River Landscape By Moonlight, 17th Century. Attributed To Aert Van Der Neer (1603-1677)
Moonlight River Landscape, 17th Century. Attributed to Aert van der Neer (1603-1677). Large 17th-century Dutch landscape depicting boats on a river, oil on canvas. A vast nocturnal scene with cattle in the foreground, boats on the still, moonlit water, and a small village to the left, its church steeple rising above the surrounding houses. Presented in an antique gilt frame. Old label erased on the reverse. Re-lined by a professional. A light professional cleaning would restore its full brilliance. A variant of this work, of identical dimensions, was sold and attributed to Van Der Neer by Koller, Düsseldorf, in 2023, with established provenance. Dimensions: approximately 109 x 77.5 cm (framed)
