"Rare Pair Of Fish Vases By Pierre d'Avesn, Art Deco, 1925 - Daum, Muller, Lalique"
Spectacular and rare pair of Art Deco Saint Peter fish vases, circa 1925, by master glassmaker Pierre d'Avesn. Slightly flattened spherical in shape with a wide, open neck and a very large circumference, they depict a circle of six Saint Peter fish adorned with stylized, geometric waves inspired by Art Deco. Made of multi-layered molded pressed glass, including one layer of opaline, with a strong relief that enhances the realism of the fish. This vase was produced in various colors and often in transparent glass; this particular example is the turquoise with shades of aquamarine green most sought after by collectors of this glassmaking genius. Pierre Girre, known as Pierre d'Avesn, trained under René Lalique, studied under François Décorchemont at the École des Arts Décoratifs, and also worked for Daum. He is one of the major figures of the Art Deco movement. Signed under the base for each piece "P. D'AVESN" and marked "FRANCE".
Very good condition, note a slight internal bubble on one of the vases.
