Pair of dessert dishes

Hard porcelain enhanced with gilding
Marked with a red iron stamp for the white, the turner (incised) and the gilder
Dimensions: D. 27 (cm.) Sèvres, 1809

Pair of circular dishes, the marli with a myrtle frieze, and the basin with a scattering of barbel.

A prestigious provenance
Michel Regnault (or Regnaud) of Saint-Jean-d'Angély was a loyal supporter of Napoleon. A civilian craftsman of power, he held many positions. Minister, secretary to the imperial family, tireless lawyer, but also an unrivaled orator, he was the perfect image of the figures on whom the regime was built. This service underwent several restocks, including that of December 31, 1810. These coincide with the happy events that fell under his responsibility with regard to the civil status of the imperial family. In our case, this probably refers to his marriage to Marie-Louise.
