Casket or box, sarcophagus-shaped, in mounted crystal. It rests on four palmette feet. The quadrangular mount is knurled with sunflower friezes at the bottom and floral arabesques, all knurled. Very fine burnishing. Cornucopia-shaped keyhole escutcheon on the front. The crystal is finely wheel-cut with diamond points, crosshatching, striations, and ribs.
Comparative work: For the mount, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs holds a similar casket, donated by William Odom, inv. 35465, last photo.
Condition report: minor chips and very slight wear consistent with age. No key.
