This captivating oil on canvas painting depicts the joyful event of the Nativity with the visit of the shepherds and is a typical work of the Venetian school, more precisely Veronese, from the first half of the 18th century. The stylistic characteristics, the nighttime setting illuminated by candlelight, and the use of warm and vibrant tones with an excellent play of light and shadow, attribute it to a Veronese artist from the circle of Antonio Balestra (Verona, 1666-1740).
The already enchanting scene becomes even more captivating thanks to the nighttime setting, with the main figure at the center of the canvas illuminated by a dazzling light that seems to radiate from his divine body.
The canvas is in excellent condition and comes with a beautiful antique gilded frame.
