"19th Century "imperial Eagle" Clock"
A Siena marble and gilt bronze clock. Resting on four gilt bronze feet, the Siena marble architecture is adorned with gilt bronze. The four columns support a capital decorated with lyres and flaming urns, surmounted by a gilt bronze depicting an imperial eagle with outstretched wings. A 15cm dial is set between the columns, protected by a domed glass, composed of a white enameled ring bearing the numerals and, at its center, a finely chased radiating disc. A bronze drapery, decorated with palmettes, sphinxes, and a mascaron, embellishes the space between the columns. The functional movement has been serviced by a clockmaker, striking the half-hours and hours on a bell, and is supplied with its original pendulum featuring quiver and torch motifs on a crown, and a period winding key.
