The French-German artist Jean Leppien (1910-1991) studied at the Bauhaus in Dessau under influential artists such as Josef Albers, Wassily Kandinsky, and Paul Klee. He became one of the most important representatives of geometric abstraction in France. In his serial works, Leppien explored the effect of colors in combination with simple geometric shapes, such as the circle.
