Large Bronze Paneling Depicting Allegory Of Music, Dance, Faun, And Muse, Antique Art Deco Style, X 2 Pieces Of Furniture

Pair of bronze panels – allegories of Music and Dance. A very fine pair of rectangular bronze plaques with high-relief decoration: – a dancing faun with goat legs, playing the syrinx (panpipe), – a young draped dancer holding a crown/ring, in a circle pose. Cast and then chased bronze, with a lovely golden-brown patina and a slightly grained background. Both plaques are pierced and fitted with a fixing system on the reverse, confirming their use as panels for furniture, woodwork, or an element of interior architecture (sideboard doors, door frame, headboard, etc.). French work, circa 1930–1950, in the style of the great interior designers of the interwar and immediate postwar periods (Arbus, Adnet, Groult, Leleu, etc.). The elongated figures, the taut modeling, and the taste for simplified mythological figures rendered in silhouette recall the spirit of the decorative bronzes designed by Vadim Androusov for André Arbus's furniture. Dimensions of each plaque: Approximately 29.5 × 7.5 cm (maximum relief approx. 1 cm). Good overall condition, with wear consistent with age, minor rubbing and patina, minimal pitting, and slight mounting marks on the reverse. No breakage, no visible restoration, stable and even patina. Ready to be remounted on a piece of furniture, a door frame, or displayed as wall panels in a decor inspired by Art Deco, design, and interiors by decorators of the 1930s–1960s.
