"Candelabra, Handcrafted Art Chandelier By Hugo Berger Goberg."
Wrought iron candelabra signed GOBERG. This is a creation of Hugo Berger. In 1895, Hugo Berger (Goberg) started his first metalworks in Schmalkalden, Germany, where decorative ironwork was produced using traditional methods. The use of materials such as iron and brass is typical of Goberg's work. The handcrafted nature of his work is clearly evident. His style, method, and materials perfectly aligned with the Arts & Crafts movement, a very popular style at the time. At the beginning of the 20th century, he became well-known worldwide, due to the fact that Liberty department stores and their affiliates sold a large portion of his work.
