The top is a sea-green hue, after a design by Jacob Desmalter.
The rectangular table is encircled by a frieze of opposing laurel leaves, supported by four gilt-bronze female caryatids with crossed arms. Two rectangular uprights on either side, decorated with various gilt-bronze motifs, connect the frieze to the H-shaped plinth, which is itself encircled by a handled urn flanked by two seated sphinxes.
This Empire-style table was made at the end of the 19th century, around 1860-1870.
The original model for this table was created for the bedroom of Caroline Murat at the Élysée Palace by Jacob Desmalter in 1808, and later transferred to the Grand Trianon, where it remains today.
