This bas-relief represents "The Battle of the Golden Hopes" in the 18th century.
This battle is a capital event in the history of Flanders, so capital that its date has become the national festival of Flanders.
Called the Battle of Courtai by the French, it took place on July 11, 1302, the Flemish militias against the army of the King of France, Philip IV.
