He came to settle in Paris at the end of the 1830s and married Zoé-Philipinne Vavasseur in 1840. He established his cabinetmaking workshop at 39, rue Saint-Sébastien, he quickly achieved great notoriety and no less than 600 workers and craftsmen worked in his factory in 1870.
From the middle of the 19th century; Diehl had positioned himself as one of the major cabinetmakers in the capital at most of the major French and international exhibitions, regularly winning awards, notably a bronze medal in 1855.
