Work on heavy cardboard, from a house in the South of France inhabited by acquaintances of the artist, which also contained seven of his canvases.

Signed lower right, annotation on the back of the cardboard: "signature registered with the municipal services and with notary Henrion, Rabat."

Elie Anatole Pavil (1873-1944) was a Ukrainian-born French painter, a Post-Impressionist. He is known for his Parisian, Orientalist, and Venetian scenes, and the beauty of his light, admired by Claude Monet, and a friend of Camille Pissarro.
