Gilt Bronze Desk Or Mantel Clock
A Louis XV period mercury-gilt bronze mantel or desk clock by the clockmaker Balthazar in Paris, with a case attributable to the founder Jean Joseph de St Germain. The gilding is in perfect condition. The movement has been serviced and is in perfect working order. The Balthazar movement had its silk thread replaced with a ferrous strip at the end of the 19th century. The movement plate is signed Balthazar in Paris.
